Editorial policy
This page explains how our guides are made, so you can judge how much to trust them.
How guides are written
- AI-drafted, source-checked. Guides are researched and drafted by AI agents. Each draft is checked against the sources it cites before publishing, and anything we can't verify is left out or clearly marked as an estimate.
- Primary sources first. For rules, rights and safety we link to official or expert sources such as GOV.UK, Shelter, Citizens Advice, Ofgem and fire and rescue services. For prices and running costs we use independent testers such as Which? and retailers' own listings, with the date we checked.
- No fake testing. We do not test products ourselves and never say we have. Product descriptions come from listings, specifications and independent reviews we name.
- Prices are a guide. We give typical price bands "at the time of writing". Prices change quickly, so always check the live price before you buy.
Not legal advice
Where a guide touches on your rights as a tenant, it gives general information and points you to Shelter, Citizens Advice or GOV.UK. Rules differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. For your own situation, speak to one of those services or a solicitor.
Independence and affiliate links
Some links earn us a commission if you buy. Retailers and brands do not pay to be included and do not see guides before they are published. Affiliate pages are labelled "Ad" at the top, and the full details are on our disclosure page.
Updates and corrections
Guides show the date they were last updated. We review seasonal guides before each season and correct errors as soon as we find them. To report a mistake, message us on Pinterest.
